Michael K. Bachrach practices in both Federal and State courts at all stages of trial and appeal, and has participated in ten Federal death penalty cases and one – as an expert – in North Carolina State court. Michael’s current and past clients include: the first and thus far only Guantanamo Bay detainee to be transferred to civilian custody for trial; the former acting boss of the Bonnano organized crime family; a New York State Assemblyman; and one of two defendants indicted for the life insurance related deaths of four people in New York and Guyana. In January, Michael was honored by the New York State Bar Association for Courageous Efforts in Promoting Integrity in the Criminal Justice System. Michael also presently serves as the President of the New York Criminal Bar Association and he teaches continuing legal education on a regular basis in New York and in California.
