Michael J. O'Connor is a Board Certified Commercial and Consumer Bankruptcy Specialist (American Bankruptcy Board of Certification - 1991). He was admitted to the New York State and federal bars in 1978 and is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Tax Court and the U.S. Court of International Trade. Michael is the recipient of the American Jurisprudence Award (1976) and the Distinguished Service Award from the Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York (1989, 1993). He also received the President's Award for Pro Bono Services from the New York State Bar Association (1989, 1993 and 2007). He is the recipient of the Distinquished Attorney award from the United States District Court for the Northern District of New York and Federal Bar Association for pro bono services - 2007. He was appiointed to the Chapter 7 Trustee panel in the Northern District of New York in 1986 to present. He is past President of the Capital Region Bankruptcy Bar association and a member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, National Association of Chapter 13 Trustees and The National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees.
