Founding partner Carole Gailor opened the predecessor to Gailor, Wallis & Hunt in 1994. Many of the lawyers have clerked for appellate courts at the state level, served as an assistant district attorney, worked as criminal defense lawyers or as large-firm corporate lawyers. “This provides a broad knowledge base and a robust think tank for dealing with multifaceted cases,” says Gailor.

Named to the 2008 Super Lawyers® list, and as one of the Top 50 women attorneys, Gailor says the firm is on track to continue growth not only in its number of professionals, but in specific areas of concentration in the practice of domestic law. Partner Kim Wallis concentrates in family law appellate work while partner Cathy Hunt has developed her niche in complex business valuation cases. “Each attorney is encouraged to develop a specific area of concentration, which is a resource for the firm’s other lawyers and clients,” Gailor says. She has concentrated on handling business valuation issues in high-end equitable distribution cases and has the experience to successfully contest or defend complex business valuations at trial or arbitration. Her expertise is highly valued as 95 percent of the firm’s clients are referral-based through former clients, corporate and business attorneys and in-house counsel. Gailor has been a board-certified family law specialist since 1989 and was admitted to the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers in 1997.
