A graduate of Charlotte Country Day School and North Carolina State University, he received his law degree from Mercer University's Walter F. George School of Law in Macon, Georgia, where he served as President of the Federalist Society. After graduation, Mr. Smith and his wife returned to his hometown of Charlotte.
