Attorney Jay Gervasi of Greensboro, North Carolina, has dedicated his practice to representing injured employees and their families involved in workers' compensation claims. He has been a board-certified specialist in workers' compensation law by the North Carolina Board of Legal Specialization since 2000, the first year certification was offered in that speciality.

Mr. Gervasi graduated in the top 15 percent of his class from Vanderbilt University School of Law in 1986. He began his career by representing businesses and insurance companies in workers' compensation defense and other personal injury cases. Having gained valuable insight and experience in this area, he joined a personal injury firm in 1990 and has defended the rights of injured workers to receive compensation for their losses ever since.

In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Gervasi is an active member of several legal organizations, including the Greensboro, North Carolina and American bar associations and the American Association for Justice. He served as the chair of the workers' compensation section of the North Carolina Advocates for Justice (NCAJ formerly the N.C. Academy of Trial Lawyers) and is a permanent member of the executive committee of that section. He regularly gives seminars on workers' compensation for the NCAJ and is often relied upon to write briefs and assist in other lawyers' cases.
