*Kushner represents individuals and businesses in complex civil and criminal investigations and litigation.  He has tried numerous cases and handled many appeals in federal and state courts, including a number of highly-publicized matters.  *Kushner was an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia where he represented the United States in numerous criminal trials and appeals.  He was also an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio, where he specialized in prosecuting civil fraud claims under the False Claims Act for which he received awards from the U.S. Department of Treasury and the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services.  Before joining the Department of Justice, he was associated with Arnold & Porter in Washington, D.C., where he practiced complex commercial litigation, often involving fraud on the financial markets.  *Recognized as a leading lawyer by numerous publications, Kushner is a Master of the Bench in the William K. Thomas Inn of Court and a Life Member of the Eighth District Judicial Conference.  He has taught at Case Western Reserve School of Law and served on the Judicial Selection Committee of the Cleveland Bar Association.  He is a member of the Court of Nisi Prius and a trustee of the Yale Club of Cleveland.   *He graduated from the University of Chicago Law School in 1985, Yale College magna cum laude in 1981, where he was editor-in-chief of the Yale Quarterly, and Shaker Heights High School in 1977, where he was President of the Student Council.  Before attending law school, he was a congressional staffer in Washington, D.C.
