Profile

W. Mark Jump is the founder of Jump Legal Group, LLC; a seven (7) lawyer law firm focused on helping individuals, families and small business owners who are experiencing financial difficulty. Mr. Jump serves as managing partner of the firm.  He primarily represents clients in bankruptcy proceedings under both Chapter 7 and Chapter 13. Mr. Jump has also helped clients with non-bankruptcy, debt-relief alternatives such as debt settlement  and mortgage loan modification. Mr. Jump and his firm are on the leading edge of  litigating foreclosure cases throughout Ohio on behalf of homeowners.  These efforts  have allowed many homeowners to save their homes without  filing for bankruptcy protection.

Professionally, Mr. Jump is widely recognized as a leader in his field.  He has spoken on many bankruptcy related topics over the years at a number of continuing legal education seminars. He recently spoke at both the 2010 winter Credit Education Coalition (CEC) seminar and the 2010 Columbus Bar Association Bankruptcy Law Institute. In 2009, Mr. Jump was selected to serve on the 2009 local bankruptcy rules consumer sub-committee and continues to serve on the standing committee. He has also served on Chapter 13 committees over the past three (3) years. In 2011, Mr. Jump was elected President of the American Consumer Bankruptcy College ( ACBC), composed of practicing consumer bankruptcy attorneys from around the country.

While maintaining a busy practice, Mr. Jump has also been active in his community. In particular, he helped start  a local Credit Abuse Resistance Education Program (CARE) designed to educate teens and young adults about the importance of using credit wisely. The program now has a number of volunteers and provides programming at a number of area high schools.

Mr. Jump is a graduate of Capital University Law School and received his undergraduate degree from Miami University. Jump Legal Group, LLC serves clients throughout central Ohio from its office locations in the cities of Columbus, Lancaster, Delaware and Zanesville.

Pro bono/Community Service:

  • Mr. Jump served as a volunteer teacher at Bexley High School for the local Credit Abuse Resistance Education (CARE) committee. CARE is a national financial literacy program desigend to help teens and young adults use future credit wisely. Mr. Jump helped start the local CARE committee in 2009 and served as its first Chairman, 2010

  • Sat on a Panel to provide a case law update for the 2008 Columbus Bar Association Bankruptcy Law Institute (BLI)
  • Lectured at the 2010 Winter Seminar for the Credit Education Coalition (CEC), on the application of 11 U.S.C. 109(e), debit limits for secured and unsecured debt in a Chapter 13 bankruptcy. The Presentation is available
  • Lectured at the 2006 Columbus Bar Association Bankruptcy Law Institute (BLI) on the application of limitations imposed by the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act (BAPCPA) and provided sample pleadings for practitioners for use for purposes of filing Motions to Extend and Impose the automatic stay under 11 U.S.C 362
