Attorneys at Graves & Barkett believe that it is not enough to just meet their clients’ expectations. “We must exceed their expectations,” says partner Daniel Graves, who has been named to the Oklahoma Super Lawyers® list.
Judging by the newsprint, the firm is doing just that. Graves & Barkett has a track record of remarkable settlements and courtroom victories in high-profile litigation. Their success has been so outstanding that Lawyers USA recently gave Graves and his partners national attention for a January 2007 wrongful death verdict.
EFFECTIVE AND EXPEDIENT
Graves & Barkett, which has received an AV-rating, the highest rating from Martindale-Hubbell®, successfully handles complex litigation for a variety of clients including individuals who’ve suffered due to medical negligence, serious vehicular incidents, insurance bad faith and fraud.
The firm also acts as litigation counsel for select corporate clients and physicians in areas such as antitrust, intellectual property and contract. The firm created the formula for success. “We rapidly move cases toward trial in an organized manner. We concentrate a high volume of resources on a low volume of cases,” Graves says. “It’s how you win.”
With more than 45 years combined litigation experience, the attorneys prepare every case as though it is going to trial. “It’s simple: Opposing parties know they can settle or face the jury. I don’t think we leave any doubts,” says partner Michael Barkett.
A SHARED PURPOSE
Barkett, an OU College of Law graduate, has received the American Jurisprudence Award for achievement in trial practice. He gained extensive trial experience through his work at one of Oklahoma’s most prominent defense firms—fielding more than 50 jury trials in his first 10 years of practice.
Graves, a TU College of Law graduate, has received American Jurisprudence Awards for his achievement in legal ethics, research and writing. He gained diverse legal experience as general and litigation counsel for a variety of corporations in the medical device, automotive and service industries.
Partner Chad McLain practices primarily in the areas of personal injury and medical negligence. A former claims specialist for a large national insurer, he handles most of the firm’s catastrophic motor vehicle injury cases. Mary M. Barcus, who recently joined the firm after moving to Tulsa from Dallas, has more than 20 years of litigation experience in the health-care field, much of which has been spent obtaining justice for patients compromised by their HMOs or who were victims of malpractice.
All are committed to achieving unmatched professionalism. “Doing the right thing for the right people and getting results beyond their expectations—it makes being an attorney the greatest job in the world,” Graves says.
