Albert Momjian’s name has become synonymous with the practice of family law in Pennsylvania. His extensive knowledge, extraordinary perspective and remarkable leadership have distinguished Schnader’s Family Law Department as one of the most prominent in the nation. Momjian’s high-profile cases have been featured on Primetime and in People, Time, Vanity Fair, The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. A major force in the development and advancement of family law practice in Pennsylvania, Momjian’s landmark treatise Pennsylvania Family Law (Geo. T. Bisel Co.) has been cited numerous times by the Commonwealth’s appellate courts. He and his son Mark Momjian are co-authors of Pennsylvania Family Law Annotated (Thomson/West), currently in its fifth edition.
Momjian co-chaired the Committee to Consolidate Pennsylvania Family Laws and served as a consultant to the Pennsylvania House and Senate Judiciary Committees during passage of the 1980 Divorce Code. Regularly listed in The Best Lawyers in America, Momjian is a member of the Domestic Relations Advisory Committee of the Joint State Government Commission, currently serving on the Alimony and Assisted Reproductive Technologies Subcommittees.
The author of hundreds of articles on family law, Momjian is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (of which he is a past president of the Pennsylvania chapter) and the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. Momjian is also a member of The Matrimonial Network, an elite group of 30 of the nation’s top lawyers dedicated to improving and modernizing the practice of family law. Included among his many awards and honors is the Eric D. Turner Award, presented to him by the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Family Law Section for outstanding service as a teacher and a mentor. Super Lawyers® magazine has named Momjian one of the Top 10 lawyers in Pennsylvania.
Momjian is a member of the Doris Jonas Freed American Inn of Court (of which he is a past president), a past chair of the Family Law Section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the past chair of the PBA’s Animal Law Committee. He received his B.A. from Columbia College and his J.D. from the Columbia University School of Law.
