Profile

For more than 30 years, Alan M. Feldman has been winning verdicts and settlements in serious personal injury and class action cases.  His recent successes include an $18 million settlement for injuries caused by a defective portable heater, an $8.5 million recovery for injuries arising from an improper tire installation, a $10 million settlement in an airbag non-deployment case, a verdict of $4.25 million for an infant killed in a trucking accident, and $6 million and $5.6 million verdicts in separate class action cases against a major automobile manufacturer.

Mr. Feldman’s diverse practice includes auto defect (crashworthiness) cases, product liability litigation, class actions on behalf of consumers and other significant civil matters.  He is a seasoned trial lawyer who has achieved a record of success in an impressive variety of cases, including claims against HMOs and health insurance companies for fraudulent medical care (profiled on the TV program Dateline NBC), recoveries against auto manufacturers for failing to incorporate essential safety devices in their vehicles, awards for the families of Philadelphia firemen killed in the line of duty, and a $1 million verdict for a client improperly denied a jackpot by an Atlantic City casino. A respected leader in the Philadelphia legal community, Mr. Feldman was elected to serve as Chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association and its 13,000 members in 2006. During his tenure, he introduced the "Raising the Bar" campaign, which has raised millions of dollars to help provide free legal services to the needy.  Mr. Feldman has also served as President of the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association, and is one of a select number of trial lawyers to be certified as a Civil Trial Specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy.  He has consistently been selected as one of the top 10 and top 100 Super Lawyers in both Pennsylvania and Philadelphia.  In addition to his trial practice and other professional activities, Mr. Feldman has co-authored a textbook on premises liability law, and served for years as an Adjunct Professor of Trial Advocacy at Temple University School of Law.  A frequent speaker at continuing legal education programs for other attorneys, Mr. Feldman has lectured and published materials for more than seventy trial skills programs.  He has served as Managing Partner (now Co-Managing Partner) of Feldman Shepherd since the firm was founded in 1987.
