David Hofstein is President of the domestic relations firm of Hofstein & Weiner, P.C., in Philadelphia. A frequent lecturer and author on family law and ethics in addition to being an active practitioner, for over fifteen years David Hofstein also was an adjunct lecturer in law at the Temple University James E. Beasley School of Law, teaching courses on custody, equitable distribution and professional responsibility. He is co-editor of the upcoming Custody in Pennyslvania text being published by the Pennsylvania Bar Institute. He co-authored Domestic Relations of West's Pennsylvania Forms and has authored or co-authored numerous articles on family law in such publications as the Philadelphia Legal Intelligencer,the Journal of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, the ABA Family Law Section's Advocate and its Family Law Quarterly, Fair Share, Pennsylvania Law Weekly, the Pennsylvania Family Lawyer, and the Philadelphia based Legal Intelligencer. For the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, he currently serves as assistant treasurer of its national Foundation, is a Vice President of the Pennyslvania Chapter, was the 2003 Co-Chair of the Academy's Continuing Legal Education Committee , was the former Chair of its Special Concerns of Children Committee. and was the Co-Chair of the Representation of Children Commitee. He previously served on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court's Domestic Relations Procedural Rules Committee and on the Task Force on Domestic Relations Law of the Pennsylvania Legislature's Joint State Government Commission Advisory Committee. He was formerly Co-Chair of the Program Committee of the ABA's Family Law Section, and Co-Chair of the Section's Ethical Practices and Procedures Committee and of its Custody Committee. He received the Section's Chair Award for 2007-2008. Mr. Hofstein previously served as a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association's Committee on Legal Ethics and Professional Responsibility. He was a board member and is a frequent course planner and instructor for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute. Mr. Hofstein also is a former Chair of the Family Law Section of the Philadelphia Bar Association, and served as Co-Chair of the Association's Chancellor's Commission on Children at Risk. He is listed in The Best Lawyers in America and received the 2009 First Judicial District (Philadelphia) Pro Bono Publico Award for his contribution to pro bono legal services, the Philadelphia Bar Association's 1994 Fidelity Award for outstanding contributions to public interest law and the 1994 IOLTA Leadership Award presented by the Pennsylvania Interest on Lawyers Trust Accounts Program. He received his undergraduate degree from Haverford College where he later served as President of its Alumni Association and received his law degree from New York University, where he was also a Root Tilden Scholar.
