Video:

  • Pennsylvania Workers' Compensation Attorney, Joshua Goldberg, of MHK Attorneys explains why workers' compensation benefits are not taxable, through either the State or Federal governments. This is because when you are injured at work, the workers' compensation carrier is going to calculate your average wages based on the Pennsylvania Bureau of Workers' Compensation regulations and statutes to determine what your compensation rate should be. This is always going to be at a reduced amount of wages through workers' compensation. As a result, taxing on top of this reduction would be unfair and unjust., Are Workers Compensation Benefits Taxable?, 2011
  • Pennsylvania divorce attorney Joshua Goldberg of MHK Attorneys explains how to get support for your children even if you're only separated at this time. Before the divorce is final and child support is set, there are still needs you may experience while trying to raise your children. You may need support now -- during separation. You will need to see an attorney to understand your rights and then file for child support. This support is based on the incomes of both parties. A conference is scheduled to determine what the support obligation for each spouse will be. Watch the video now to learn more., How to get Support for Your Child if You're Separated, 2011
  • Pennsylvania divorce attorney Joshua Goldberg of MHK Attorneys explains what a divorce hearing is.A divorce hearing is basically a trial, but not like you see on television. • Pennsylvania worker's compensation attorney Joshua Goldberg of MHK Attorneys discusses how not accurately describing your injuries can cause problems for your worker's compensation benefits. Our client was injured on the job and began to work at home. She did not take any real time off and continued to work for the company for the next year. However, she was unhappy with her position and moved to another state. At this time, her former employer tried to stop paying her worker's compensation stating her move as the reason. Also, her injuries became worse and she ultimately needed a brand new knee. What was taken as a minor knee strain was actually an aggravation of a pre-existing arthritis that continued to worsen. We had to show her real condition and protect her benefits just because she moved out of state. Watch the video now to learn more., How Not Describing Your Injuries can Cause Problems, 2011
  • Pennsylvania worker's compensation attorney Joshua Goldberg of MHK Attorneys discusses a temporary employee who was seeking worker's compensation. Our client injured herself while at working for a nursing home, a position in which she was placed by a temporary agency. We had to prove through several different factors that our client was an actual employee and deserved to be compensated for her injuries. We showed that the nursing home was the actual employer by proving that they had the ability to fire her, hire her, and had ultimate control of her work, which means they controlled the daily aspect of her job duties. Being able to convince a judge that she was indeed an employee of the nursing home enabled us to get her paid for her injury and receive benefits. • Pennsylvania worker's compensation attorney Joshua Goldberg of MHK Attorneys talks about the many different terms you may hear when dealing with your worker's compensation case. An independent medical examination that is paid for by the insurance company is called an IME. They are allowed once every 6 months to have you examined by one of their doctors. Functional capacity evaluation -- or FCE -- is used to help determine whether you're capable to go back to work and in what capacity. You may also hear the term "concurrent employment". This just means your second job. If you have a second employer, those wages should be added to your primary job to calculate your wage and compensation rates. Lastly, a compromise and release agreement -- or C & R -- it is a formal document that spells out the terms and conditions of your case and any settlement. It is used by the judge to make a decision. • Pennsylvania personal injury attorney Joshua Goldberg of MHK Attorneys explains what happens after you hire an attorney for a car accident case. Many people question what happens after they've hired an attorney. What happens between that initial interview and the trial? Well, first we need to wait until you're doing getting medical treatment. We cannot get the maximum settlement for you if you're still acquiring medical bills. Once that is completed we put together a demand for the other side. A demand is simply a package showing the materials and information of our side to the other side. Negotiations then begin and ultimately the case will be settled. Our starting price is by no means what the case will end up at, we start high so that we can negotiate and get you to your goal.
