Profile

Robert N. Rosen is an experienced trial attorney. His practice focuses primarily on family law and civil trial litigation. He is is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. He works hard for his clients, always seeking justice and the best results for each individual client. 

Mr. Rosen was born in Charleston; attended public schools in Charleston; graduated with distinction from the University of Virginia, where he was a member of the Raven Society; earned his Master of Arts in history, with distinction, from Harvard University; and graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law where he served on the Editorial Board of the University of South Carolina Law Review.  Mr. Rosen formerly served as Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Charleston, was General Counsel for the Charleston County School District for over 20 years, and was General Counsel for the Housing Authority of the City of Charleston.

Mr. Rosen has lectured and written extensively for legal education programs, magazines, and South Carolina Jurisprudence. Mr. Rosen is also certified as an arbitrator in family law cases by the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. When not involved in his extensive family law and litigation practice, Mr. Rosen likely will be found studying and writing history. Mr. Rosen has authored seven published books, six history books and one on family law.

Mr. Rosen also volunteers his time to the community, serving and having served on numerous boards.  Mr. Rosen is currently the Presidet of the Fort Sumter-Fort Moultrie Trust and Chair of Sesquicentennial Commemoration of the Civil War. Mr. Rosen has also served on the Board of Trustees of the Historic Charleston Foundation and is Chairman of the Arts and History Commission of the City of Charleston.  He was the Co-Chair of the Friends of the Courthouse and served on the Charleston County Library Board and the Board of the Charleston Symphony Orchestra.  He is a member of the Charleston County Bar Association, the South Carolina Bar, the South Carolina Trial Lawyers Association, and the American Bar Association. He served on the South Carolina Bar's Family Law Council and served on the Editorial Board of the American Bar Association publication, The Family Advocate. He serves on the Commission on Continuing Legal Education and Specialization, Family Law Specialization Advisory Board, and is the current President of the S.C. Chapter of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. He is also a member of the South Carolina Supreme Court Historical Society (President 2010-2011).
