Mr. Harris opened his law firm on Music Row in Nashville in 1975 specifically to concentrate his practice on music, copyright, and entertainment law. An active civil litigator in these fields, he  tries contract and copyright infringement cases for both plaintiffs and defendants. In the course of his career, he has represented artists, managers, writers, producers, publishers, and the various business entities through which these music industry personnel pursue their careers. He was certified in February, 2009, as a Civil Trial Specialist by the Tennessee Commission on Continuing Legal Education and Specialization and by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. Mr. Harris has received an AV rating with Martindale-Hubbell, which identifies lawyers with a very high to preeminent legal ability, indicating that they practice in accordance with the highest professional and ethical standards.
