Marcos Garza is a criminal defense attorney and founder of The Garza Law Firm, PLLC, of Knoxville, Tennessee. Known for his energetic and thorough representation, he defends clients accused of driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol and other crimes. He also handles serious personal injury cases.
As a lifelong learner, Mr. Garza regularly attends seminars and CLEs on DUI defense and trial tactics. He completed a master's degree in social work and is a graduate of the National Criminal Defense College Trial Practice Institute. He is also certified by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to administer standardized field sobriety tests.
While still in law school, Mr. Garza was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U. S. Marine Corps, serving in the Judge Advocate's Corps (JAG). He assisted soldiers in a variety of legal areas, including criminal law, operational law, family law, administrative law and income taxation. He finished active duty with the rank of captain and completed his law degree in 2001.
Mr. Garza is a board member of the Tennessee Association for Justice and a life member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He is also a member of the National College of DUI Defense, the American Association for Justice and the Tennessee, Knoxville and Sevier County bar associations.
