Sonia Rodriguez and Fernando Cruz have committed to building on this tradition. In 2004, Rodriguez obtained a jury verdict of $2.38 million in a premises defect case in Val Verde County, making her the first Latina to obtain a verdict in excess of $1 million in that county.
