Kevin Glasheen opened his own firm directly out of law school, an impressive and risky move for a young lawyer. But Glasheen wouldn’t have it any other way. “I wanted to have the complete responsibility of handling a client’s case,” he says, responsibility he could only find at his own firm. For 20 years his approach has resulted in an impressive record of success, which his peers have acknowledged by naming Glasheen to the Texas Super Lawyers® list for the fifth consecutive year. The firm handles cases involving industrial accidents, oilfield accidents, truck wrecks, train wrecks, automobile accidents and defective products. Glasheen’s very first civil trial resulted in a record verdict, and the firm has achieved multimillion-dollar results in significant cases. Notable results include two of the largest jury verdicts in Texas for railroad crossing accidents, in which Glasheen’s clients netted $4.6 million and $14.5 million, and a motorcycle collision case in which the firm was able to negotiate a $5 million net settlement for its client. Glasheen is also proud of the firm’s work in assisting cotton-gin workers receive compensation for their on-the-job injuries.

THE CLIENT IS THE BOSS

Glasheen and his staff believe that a relationship built on trust is vital to every client. The firm has specific policies in place designed to effectively and respectfully keep clients involved. “Our job is to empower our clients and help them make good decisions,” Glasheen says. “We don’t keep any secrets from our clients, no matter what they are.” Clients are encouraged to call any time and ask any question so that they feel informed and comfortable with every aspect of their cases. Even when dealing with the complexities of industrial accidents or large machinery, the firm never forgets its clients are people—individuals who have suffered physical pain and emotional turmoil. For Glasheen, one of his most important jobs is meeting clients in person, looking them in the eye and knowing who they are.

Aggressive Prosecution According to Glasheen, the most important quality people should look for in a lawyer is the willingness to aggressively prosecute a case. “The most successful lawyers have to be willing to go to trial.
