Firm Profile

Profile

This marks the fifth consecutive year that Rusty Hardin has been selected as one of the state’s Top 10 attorneys on the Texas Super Lawyers® list. The Texas courtroom legend garners plenty of attention for his work with high-profile clients, but Hardin makes it clear that his entire team deserves credit. In fact, six attorneys of the firm were named to the state’s Rising Stars listing for 2007.

“The attorneys who practice with me are outstanding and experienced courtroom lawyers who share a passion for the law,” says Hardin. “This is not just ‘Rusty’s firm.’ I couldn’t be more proud of what we’ve achieved together.”

While Hardin may be best known for defending prominent individuals, the bulk of the firm’s work involves commercial litigation in state and federal courtrooms. Hardin and his team currently represent Las Vegas Sands Corp., the owner of The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino, in three separate contract disputes in Nevada state and federal court. Each lawsuit relates to the company’s casino and resort operations in Macao, a Special Administrative Region of China.

“This is a fascinating experience that spans the Pacific and two distinct business climates and cultures,” says Hardin. “While being sensitive to those realities, we are still approaching this litigation as we would a case in Harris County. We have a fervent belief in our client’s position and our ultimate goal is to make both a logical and emotional connection in the courtroom on their behalf. That’s a challenge that motivates us to excel at every level, every day, regardless of the background or circumstances of the individual case.”

This approach has guided Hardin through some of his most well-known cases: representing the J. Howard Marshall II estate in the probate trial involving claims made by the late Anna Nicole Smith; Dow Jones in an appeal of the largest libel verdict in history; accounting giant Arthur Andersen in civil and criminal cases involving the collapse of Enron Corp; as well as a lengthy roster of business, sports and political figures.

“We enjoy the diversity of clients and the opportunity to apply a wide range of personal and professional experiences in serving their needs,” says Hardin. “I firmly believe that the eclectic nature of our trial practice reinforces our ability to help a broad cross-section of individuals and companies.”
