Profile

A sixth (6th) generation Texan, born and raised in Houston, Texas, Hugh Jones Plummer Jr., has been in the court house and around trial lawyers since he was old enough to walk.  The son of Hugh J. (“Pete”) Plummer, Hugh grew up watching his father and other famous Harris County attorneys practice law, tell stories, and argue cases to Texas juries.

From a very early age, Hugh Jones Plummer Jr., was ingratiated and exposed to the practice of law, where he became fascinated with jury trials and trial lawyers.  In addition to this fascination, Hugh was endeared by the professionalism and respect with which Texas lawyers treated one another and their clients.  The magnitude of the legal battles fought out before him in the courtroom was as awe inspiring as it was inspirational.  These early lessons about the practice of law, coupled with an upbringing in and around Texas trial lawyers, set Hugh Jones Plummer, Jr. on a career path of helping those in need and defending those who could not defend themselves.

In the spring of 2000, Hugh Jones Plummer Jr. was accepted to South Texas College of Law.  After his first year in law school, and in 2001, Hugh was awarded an internship with The Texas First District Court of Appeals in Houston, Texas.  It was during this internship that Hugh learned from some of the most esteemed and respected Judges or Justices in Texas, some of whom have presided as justices on the Texas Supreme Court[1] or were asked by the President of the United States to sit on the Federal Judiciary.[2]

Throughout the remainder of his law school years, Hugh Jones Plummer, Jr. was committed to do everything possible to become an exceptional trial lawyer.  He successfully served as a trial lawyer on the varsity mock trial team under the famous Dean T. Jerald Treece at South Texas College of Law.[3]  Hugh went on to clerk and work for some of the best trial lawyers in the United States and Texas such as R. Dean Irwin,[4] Edward J. Hennessy[5], and the nationally renowned criminal defense attorney Dick DeGuerin.[6]  After graduating in 2003, Hugh, went to work with some of the best civil defense lawyers in the business at Barker Lyman P.C.,[7] where he assisted in defending large corporations, professionals, and individuals in complex commercial, construction, personal injury, and business litigation.  For several years after leaving the civil defense practice, Hugh had the honor and privilege of working with his father at Plummer & Farmer for several years before starting Perdue & Plummer LLP  and then forming Perdue & Plummer LLP with his friend Joe N. Perdue.   To this day, and on occasion, Hugh and his father Pete Plummer work on cases together, and when lucky, help each other at trial.

Hugh Jones Plummer Jr., took the training he received from law school, the lawyers and judges he worked for, and his father, a 40 year veteran trial lawyer, and formed The Plummer Law Firm P.C.  He forged his own name, and reputation with his own law firm, The Plummer Law Firm P.C.   After several years with The Plummer Law Firm P.C., Hugh was approached with the opportunity of joining forces with another “Rising Star,” Joe N. Perdue, a friend and rival of Hugh’s from South Texas College o Law.  Joe and Hugh shared a mutual vision and goal, helping Texans obtain justice.  On June 1, 2011  Perdue & Plummer LLP  was formed.  By August 1, 2011 the firm had moved into its new home at 1314 Texas Ave.  Hugh continues to focus his practice on compassionate aggressive representation of Texas citizens and Texas businesses.

Hugh Jones Plummer Jr., is a graduate of M. B. Lamar High School in Houston, Texas and The University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona.  Hugh is a member of The Texas Bar Association, The Houston Bar Association, The Houston Trial Lawyers Association, The Houston Young Lawyers Association and The Texas Young Lawyers Association.   Hugh is licensed to practice in all Texas State Courts, The United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas, The United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, and The United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.  Hugh is also a committee member and Life Member of the Houston Live Stock Show and Rodeo.  Hugh lives in the City of Houston and is happily married to his wife Allyson T. Plummer.  Hugh has three (3) children.  When he is not practicing law, Hugh spends time with his family, is active in his community, and takes part in various community and charitable associations.  Hugh and his family are members of St. Martin’s Episcopal Church.
