Robert R. Smith Jr. is a founding partner of Fitzpatrick Hagood Smith & Uhl LLP, a Dallas law firm with a primary focus on providing white collar criminal defense for individual and business clients throughout the Metroplex area, Texas and nationwide.
Mr. Smith's own practice focuses on representing individuals accused of white collar crimes in state and federal courts. Over the course of his career, both as a prosecutor and as a defense lawyer, Mr. Smith has handled numerous high-profile, multi-defendant cases involving charges such as money laundering, computer fraud, government contract fraud, health care fraud, securities fraud, tax fraud, banking fraud, election fraud and violations of federal statutes such as the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization Act (RICO), Sarbanes-Oxley and the Federal Corrupt Practices Act.
Mr. Smith is a 1975 graduate of Southern Methodist University School of Law. He began his career with the Dallas County District Attorney's Office where he achieved the rank of chief felony prosecutor before moving on to serve as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Northern District of Texas. Mr. Smith remains an active member of several professional organizations and is a fellow of the College of the State Bar of Texas.

Verdicts and Settlements:
- Numerous outstanding resolutions and verdicts. In a 2009 jury trial, represented one of four natural defendants in a major tax shelter fraud case against the United States Department of Justice in the District Court of the Virgin Islands, resulting in not guilty verdicts on all ninety nine counts.
