Profile
Steve Sanfelippo heads up the appellate and insurance coverage practice at Rose Walker in Dallas. In addition, Mr. Sanfelippo spends a fair amount of his time preparing cases for trial, including handling dispositive motions and jury charges, and examining all facts that might impact a case in trial or on appeal. His practice areas include complex commercial litigation, products liability and aviation law. His work in the Louisiana Court of Appeal, Fourth Circuit in New Orleans, resulted in a $4.3 million payment from Bell Helicopter Textron Inc., after he successfully argued the helicopter maker was solely liable for the crash of a Bell 412 twin-engine helicopter. Mr. Sanfelippo has been published on a wide variety of issues, including the future of climate change litigation, the importance that government documents play in aviation litigation, and contractual liability issues that arise in the construction industry. He has also explored the procedural underpinnings of en banc hearings in both state and federal appellate courts.

Following the ruling, Bell agreed to pay PHI $4.3 million to cover the cost of the helicopter, attorneys’ fees and interest.
