Verdicts and Settlements:

  • Verdicts in 2009 in which I was lead trial counsel: Wagner v. Bondex, et al - $4,500,000 verdict for deceased meso client in Liberty, MO.  Significant because the asbestos ceiling tiles looked exactly the same as the non-asbestos ceiling tiles used by the plaintiff.  Also, one of the largest asbestos verdicts ever in that county.  Willis v. Union Carbide, et al - $2,000,000 verdict.  Living meso client tried in Springfield, Ill. Significant because all of the jurors have to agree on all aspects of the verdict.  In most states this only applies in criminal cases, not civil cases. Reicker v. Gould Pumps, et al - $1,800,000 verdict for a household asbestos exposure case in Court of Common Pleas, Philadelphia, PA.  Significant because you can not suggest the amount the jury should award in any manner. I was co-lead trial counsel in Sorey, et al v. Crane Co. et al - $14,000,000 verdict in the Court of Common Pleas, Philadelphia, PA. In 2008, I was the lead trial attorney in Stralo v. IMO Industries, et al, in the Court of Common Pleas, Philadelphia, PA - $3,500,000 verdict for a deceased meso client.
  • I was the lead trial attorney in obtaining a verdict in Philadelphia on March 14, 2008 for $25,200,000.00 (Baccus, et al. v. Crane Co. et al, Case No. 001063 Pa. Ct. Comm. Pls.,Philadelphia Cty.)  This was for a 76 year old deceased mesothelioma victim.  The jury placed 100% liability on the three defendants in the court room, Crane Co., Yarway Corp. and John Crane, Inc.  The trial lasted six weeks and is believed to be the largest asbestos verdict for a single individual ever obtained in the history of Philadelphia. This verdict was also listed as one of the top (largest) verdicts in the entire United States in 2008 by the National Law Journal.
  • On February 19, 2010, I obtaind a damages verdict for $11,000,000 in the Court of Common Pleas in Philadelphia for two mesothelioma cases in Phase One of the trial.  These cases are tried in the reverse bifurcated manner with two phases making up the trial.  In Phase Two, I obtained a liability finding on March 5, 2010 against Rockwell Corp making them responsible for 1/8 of the $6,500,000 damage award in the Lanpher case.  This is significant as it is the very first asbestos verdict againt Rockwell Corp in the entire nation.  They are responsible for Allen Bradley electrical parts which contained asbestos for a number of years. On May 27, 2010, I obtained a liability finding against John Crane, Inc in the Koeberle case in Philadelphia.  The jury had awarded damages in the amount of $4,500,000.
