Stephen Blodgett has more than thirty years of Family Law experience. He handles all aspects of divorce, including custody, parent-child contact, child support, alimony, property division, post-divorce actions and interstate divorce disputes. Other areas include: separation, dissolution of civil unions, pro se divorce consultation, prenuptial and post nuptial agreements, domestic abuse, relief from abuse, child delinquency, and mediation and arbitration. Mr. Blodgett is certified by the National Board of Trial Advocacy (NBTA) as a family law trial specialist. The NBTA is accredited by the American Bar Association as a specialty certification program. Stephen Blodgett grew up and attended public schools in Vermont. He graduated from Harvard College in 1967 and from St. Johns University Law School in 1970. Since 1970 he has practiced law in Burlington, Vermont. Mr. Blodgett has served on numerous family law-related committees. He conducts instruction seminars as part of a Family Court program to help individuals who represent themselves in divorce actions. He was awarded the Distinguished Pro Bono Award by the Vermont Bar Association in 2007. He has a limited practice in other areas, including representation of attorneys charged with misconduct and criminal defense representation.  He is a member of the Vermont Bar Association, the Vermont Association of Criminal Defense lawyers, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Vermont Association for Justice.  Mr. Blodgett serves on the Vermont Council on Domestic Violence.  He is past chairman of the Burlington Vermont School Board and a former Vermont State Senator. He lives with his wife in Winooski, Vermont.
