Attorney Philip Schwartz, who is named to the Top 100 list in this edition of Super Lawyers®, concentrates on complex divorce cases and cases with foreign elements, for which he is nationally and internationally recognized. He is noted for his trial expertise, skills in finding and returning hidden assets, recovering abducted children, enforcing foreign court orders, expert testimony, and he frequently serves as a consultant to lawyers. He is a founding Fellow and past president of the International Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, and he is a Fellow and past vice-president of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers. He is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell® and is listed in The Best Lawyers in America, Martindale-Hubbell®’s Bar Register of Preeminent Lawyers and Washingtonian magazine’s “Best Divorce Lawyers.” He received a lifetime achievement award from the Virginia State Bar’s Family Law Section. He is the only Diplomate of the American College of Family Law Trial Lawyers from Virginia.

Schwartz is fluent in four languages and, in addition to his law degree, he has a master’s of law in taxation. He has written many articles and presented seminars in the U.S. and abroad on complex international matrimonial issues. Currently, he is editing for publication a two-volume treatise on international family law.
