Profile

Ann has worked for two decades in the area of Estate Planning and Elder law, including Special Needs Trusts, guardianship and Estate and Trust Administration. Her experience working with her clients led to her interest in Special Needs planning for persons with disabilities and their families, as well as to her focus in Elder law. She routinely works with clients and their families on long term care concerns so that her clients can face the future knowing they have a plan in place for every contingency. She has assisted hundreds of clients with Medicaid issues, special needs trusts and trust administration and probate.  She also assists clients with adult guardianship cases in situations where an adult no longer has capacity to do their own planning or care for themselves. Ann also works with other legal professionals in establishing, and, if necessary, administering special needs trusts for disabled beneficiaries. In January 2007, she was invited into the prestigious Special Needs Alliance, an organization comprised of America’s leading Disability and Public Benefits lawyers. In the spring of 2009 and again in the Fall of 2010 she was named the best elder law attorney in Southwest Virginia in Ourhealth Magazine. In the 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 she was chosen by her peers to be listed for estate planning and probate in the Virginia Super Lawyers publication, an honor given to only 5% of attorneys. She was listed in the Best Lawyers in America for 2010 and 2011. In 2010 and 2011, U.S. News & World Report named her law firm as a top tier law firm, the only firm in Southwest Virginia to be listed as such in elder law. In August 2008, she was quoted in two articles in the Roanoke Times about the challenges facing the elderly entitled “The Age of Uncertainty: The Costly Years” and “The Costly Years: Most Common Financial Myths” In 2007,  2009, and 2011 she has been named in The Roanoker Magazine as one of the Roanoke Valley’s best elder law attorneys.
