Mr. Rawls earned a B.A. in Politics, cum laude, from Wake Forest University in 1978. Following a brief career as an artillery officer in the U.S. Army at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, he earned a Juris Doctorate from the T.C. Williams School of Law at the University of Richmond in 1984. Mr. Rawls focuses his practice on cases involving medical malpractice. During the course of his practice at several firms, including Penn, Stuart; McGuire, Woods, Battle & Boothe; and Browder & Russell, Mr. Rawls has tried to verdict approximately 100 medical malpractice jury trials, plus a significant number of jury trials involving non-medical issues. Mr. Rawls is active in the Virginia Associates of Defense Attorneys, as well as the Defense Research Institute. He is also a frequent instructor at Continuing Legal Education seminars.
