Melanie devotes her practice entirely to family law matters, including divorce, custody, child and spousal support, adoption, and prenuptial agreements. In addition to representing clients in litigation, she also guides clients through various forms of alternative dispute resolution, such as mediation. She is qualified as a guardian ad litem for children. Because family law matters often involve opposing parties who must interact with one another for years after the court case ends, Melanie believes strongly in working toward amicable settlements whenever possible, in order to tailor solutions for the specific needs of your family. For situations that must reach the courtroom, she understands the client's need for a forceful advocate.
Melanie is a board member of the Metropolitan Richmond Women's Bar Association. As a member of the Richmond Bar Association, she will serve as co-chair of the 2012 Richmond Bench-Bar Conference Planning Committee. She is a member of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, the Metro Richmond Family Law Bar Association, and the Chesterfield County Bar Association. Melanie received her law degree from the College of William & Mary and graduated class salutatorian from Thiel College in Greenville, Pennsylvania.
