Profile

I have been in private practice as a family lawyer since 1990.  Even before that, my career seemed to focus on children, families, and the search for alternative ways to resolve disputes.  After almost twenty years with two excellent boutique firms, I am now practicing solo, which gives me certain freedoms.  I encourage people to take advantage of resources like the Self Help Center at the D.C. Superior Court, where I volunteer regularly, and the Multi-Door Mediation Service there, which I helped inaugurate. I also think it is essential that everyone has at least a consultation with a competent attorney before signing a separation agreement or filing for divorce.    One of the exciting things about this practice is working with someone for a year or so and watching the gloom lift and after eighteen months, that person is relishing life again.  Someone faced with divorce doesn't think it's possible to be happy again but it is.  I also am very concerned about children maintaining regular and meaningful access to both parents who are separated.
