Gerry Sikorski is a partner in the law firm of Holland & Knight LLP in Washington, D.C. He practices in the areas of government contracts, federal budget and appropriations, Indian and native peoples law, communications, sustainable development, public policy and regulation, congressional investigations, federal practice and health care reform.
With an extensive background in government, he serves as the law firm's government section leader. Representing Minnesota in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1983 to 1993, he served on the Energy and Commerce Committee, the Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, and the Post Office and Civil Service Committee. Prior to his time with the House, Mr. Sikorski served as a state senator for six years, chairing committees with jurisdiction over health, welfare and corrections appropriations, and publicly regulated industries.
Among his other experiences, Mr. Sikorski chaired the American Bar Association's Special Committee on Government Affairs for two years.
For the past five consecutive years, he has been recognized for his government relations law practice in The Best Lawyers in America guide. He was named among the top 50 lobbyists in Washington by The Washingtonian in 2007.
Mr. Sikorski received his J.D., magna cum laude, from the University of Minnesota Law School.
