I have been a trial lawyer since 1974. I completed 5 years in the Office of the Solicitor, Division of Civil Rights, U.S. Dept. of Labor as a Senior Trail Attorney. I litigated numerous civil rights enforcement actions seeking complaince with Federal contractor's obligations not to discriminate and to take affirmative action. I began at Chaikin et. al. in 1980. In 2005 i became the sole shareholder and managing partner. I have represented thousands of individuals injured as a result of the carelessness of others. i have focused alot of my energies on the representation of individuals with Traumatic Brain Injuries. I am a founding member of the DC Brain Injury Ass'n. i currently serve as Vice President of BIADC. i am also co-chair of the Embolization Devices Litigation Group, of American Ass'n of Justice. this is a group that seeks to educate lawyers regarding cases involving the use of cyanoacrylate as an embolization device. I represented approximatley 15 of the families of developmentally disabled wards of the District of Columbia that died in the group home system. A plaque memorializing the deaths of these individuals has been placed in their honor, as a result of this litigation, outside the door of the Director of HHS of the District of Columbia. I have represented numerous children that suffered brain injury at birth and, this past year, another an adult that suffered an injury as a result of the use of cyanoacrlyate as an embolization device. I have recently also successfully represnted a 6 yr. old child that suffered profound brain injury as a result of near drowning.
in short, my entire carreer has been dedicated to successfully represnting those that have been adversly affected by the inappropriate or careless behavior of others.
