Profile

Bruce graduated from the University of Washington (J.D.) and NYU (LL.M. Taxation) and clerked at the U.S. Court of Claims. Bruce's tax practice includes both transactional and controversy work, and he has defended numerous multimillion-dollar IRS audits (including mediation and fast track appeals). Bruce also has been lead counsel in over 20 IRS National Office private letter rulings. He has written extensively about federal taxes, including three BNA Tax Management Portfolios (Involuntary Conversions, Home Ownership, and Timber Transactions), seven chapters of BNA's Tax Practice Series, a Law Review article on Code Section 646 (a provision he helped author), and various pieces as an Editor of the Journal of Taxation. Bruce has been a Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel for the past decade.
