Janet Helson practices exclusively in the area of family law. In practice since 1992, she joined Skellenger Bender in 2004. She has particular expertise in parenting issues, including domestic violence, the Relocation Act, interstate jurisdiction, de facto parent, and nonparental custody. Ms. Helson serves on the National Family Law Advisory Council of the National Center For Lesbian Rights; her practice includes advising and representing LGBT clients on family law issues.

Ms. Helson served on the Washington State Bar Association Family Law Executive Committee from 2001 to 2007, has served as a pro tem family law commissioner, is co-author of the chapter "Pretrial Motions Practice" in the Family Law Deskbook, and was named Attorney of the Year by the Family Law Section of the Washington State Bar Association in 2004.  She is a frequent presenter at family law seminars.
