Jennie's practice focuses on contested custody cases between married or unmarried parents, bringing or defending against nonparental custody actions, cases involving domestic violence and abuse allegations, second parent and step-parent adoptions, and all manner of family law cases representing gay, lesbian, transgendered, and bisexual clients. Jennie occasionally sits as a pro tem family law commissioner in King County Superior Court; she is an adjunct professor at Seattle University School of Law and was awarded the 2010 Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Award for her work there. She is currently President of the Board of Directors of the QLaw Foundation, and she previously served as a board member of the King County Coalition Against Domestic Violence for many years. Jennie received the WSBA YLD Pro Bono Award in 2003. She is a long-time volunteer with Legal Voice (formerly known as the Northwest Women's Law Center), with their Self-Help and Legislative Committees, and she has also participated with the volunteer legal teams representing the petitioner in In re the Parentage of LB and trial-level work for the plaintiffs in Andersen v. King County.
