Profile

Steve is a trial lawyer devoted to liability defense of small businesses and nonprofits, employment, and First Amendment issues. He has successfully argued in state and federal appellate courts on behalf of clients in each of these practice areas and in 2007 won an important First Amendment case in the U.S. Supreme Court. Steve is a frequent speaker to nonprofit and lawyer groups regarding the First Amendment, interests of religious organizations, and risk management issues. Steve tries to balance law with community service and family. Steve is a board member and volunteer of Sacred Road, a (hands-on) charitable organization serving the Yakama Native Americans. Steve and his wife, Laurie, have two teenaged sons who cheerfully mow the lawn and prefer to spend time at home over hanging out with their friends.
