When companies are faced with litigation, they require a legal team with the skills to provide the best defense possible. The attorneys of Leib & Katt, LLC have extensive jury trial experience. William J. Katt and Samuel J. Leib, principals and founding members of the firm, have tried more than 200 major civil jury cases to verdict. They have encountered and successfully dealt with virtually every type of judge, expert and argument. Both Leib and Katt are named in this issue of Super Lawyers® and attorneys Sean M. Gaynor and Mark D. Malloy are named in Rising Stars.
National Practice
Many attorneys call themselves “litigators.” However, very few can match the experience of the attorneys at Leib & Katt in terms of trying cases to a jury. Without actually experiencing how juries think and act, it is very difficult for litigators to give accurate and informed advice on what exposure the client actually faces.
The attorneys at Leib & Katt use their trial experience to advise clients on whether to avoid, commence, settle, try or mediate a dispute. Clients recognize and appreciate the depth and uniqueness of the lawyers’ skills, which is why they are sent all over Wisconsin and the United States to handle complex litigation.
The attorneys understand how a dispute can legally, financially and emotionally affect a company, and they provide superior service every step of the way.
Practice areas include aviation, business consultation, construction litigation, employment matters, health care, professional licensing, general litigation, government litigation, insurance coverage and extra contractual matters, products liability, retail liability and toxic torts.
In The Community
The attorneys of Leib & Katt are vital contributors to the legal and business communities, and are often called upon to speak at events. Douglas S. Knott was asked by an insurance client to provide a medical malpractice law update at the client’s group practice symposium.
Distinction
Katt was inducted as a fellow into the American College of Trial Lawyers, an association composed of the best trial lawyers from the U.S. and Canada. Only one percent or less of the lawyer population in any state or province is allowed membership. Leib has been on the faculty of Marquette Law School since 1999 and teaches in the area of health care litigation. He has also been a guest lecturer on trial advocacy.
