THERE ARE AWARDS …

Jay Urban, a consumer injury attorney, received the Association of Trial Lawyers of America’s “Most Outstanding Trial Lawyers in America Under 40” (2002) award, has been named to Wisconsin Super Lawyers® (2005-2008) and is rated in The Best Lawyers In America®. No other Wisconsin attorney has ever achieved all three honors in addition to being certified as a civil trial specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. In the past year, Urban won a courtroom victory paralleled by very few injury attorneys: $9.66 million awarded at a court trial in his hometown of Monroe County. “It’s one of the top damage verdicts ever there, and among the top in state history,” Urban says. “But what makes it special is that we did it for a family who needed it most.” It’s just one example of how Urban obtains justice every day for those harmed.

BUT SERVING OTHERS IS THE MOST REWARDING

While recognition is appreciated—all of the above honors are peer-nominated—most of the honor comes from how cases are referred to him: from other lawyers, community members and former clients. “Other than promoting what we do, we don’t advertise,” he notes. “We devote 100 percent to helping those in need get the best results and change their circumstances for the better, and I work just as hard when the stakes are low or for community projects because serving others is its own reward.”
