Alex Flynn is the founder of Alex Flynn & Associates, S.C., a Milwaukee-based criminal defense and personal injury law firm with a statewide practice. Alex practices in both areas of the law and takes great pride in providing each of his clients with aggressive, yet ethical representation inside and outside of the courtroom. In the criminal law side of his practice, Alex defends adults and juveniles against all types of felony and misdemeanor charges, including drunk driving (DUI/OWI), drug possession, assault, fraud and murder, and has obtained numerous state and federal jury acquittals since 1984. In his personal injury practice, Alex represents injured plaintiffs as well as families who have lost loved ones due to auto accidents, truck accidents, property owner negligence and various other causes.

Alex's professional honors and awards include an AV Preeminent* peer review rating through Martindale-Hubbell, recognition as one of the state's "Top 100 Trial Lawyers" by the National Trial Lawyers organization, and a 2004 Martin Hanson Advocate Prize from the Wisconsin Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers for excellence demonstrated in a first-degree homicide case resulting in a not guilty verdict. Verdicts and Settlements:

  • 2009 was a successful year. Among the highlights:  Attorney Flynn represented the primary plaintiff in K.L. v. Ellington Mutual Insurance Co., et. al. (Waupaca County, Wisconsin Case No.: 08 CV 619). The case settled in April of 2010 for $500,000, just weeks before trial. Attorney Flynn also settled a 42 U.S.C. 1983 case he filed in the Eastern District of Wisconsin Federal Court on behalf of plaintiff L.H. in 2006. The case settled for $150,000 in February of 2009.  Frank Jude and L.H. v. Milwaukee Police Department, et. al. 06 CV 1101 E.D. Wisconsin.  On November 2-9, 2009 Attorney Flynn defended his client in a bitterly contested criminal jury trial where the State of Wisconsin accused his client of multiple counts of repeated drug dealing and dog fighting. After a week of testimony from twenty-three witnesses (three experts) and the introduction of 171 exhibits, thejury hung on all four charges. State of Wisconsin v. S.B.  (Milwaukee County Case No.: 08 CF 4545)  Attorney Flynn also successfully settled a breach of fidiciary duty case  with respect to the negligent handling fof his client's retirement funds Milwaukee Co. Case No.: 09 CV 17551 .  The case settled in early 2010 for  a confidential amount., 2009

Representative Clients:

  • L.K. v. J.K., Fond du Lac County Case No, 2009 CV 1067 was a week-long civil sex assault jury trial against my client and subsequently his estate. (11/2010)
  • State v. S.B., Milwaukee County Case No. 2008 CF 4545 (11/09); week-long drug trafficking and dog-fighting trial involving hundreds of exhibits and multiple witnesses, which resulted in a hung jury on all charges against the client. (11/09)
  • U.S. v. M.L., Case No.07-CR-00204, U.S. District Court, Case No.07-CR-00204; week-long trial in the Eastern District of Wisconsin involving multiple counts of mortgage fraud, thousand of exhibits, and at least 20 witnesses. Appeal to the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals, U.S. v. M. L., Case No. 10-1349. (12/08)
  • State v. M.L., Crawford County Case No. 2007 CF 02; first degree intentional injury to a child reduced to reckless injury before trial. Not Guilty verdict. (4/07)
