Daniel D. Ryan is one of the founding shareholders of Ryan Kromholz & Manion, S.C. located in Brookfield, Wisconsin.  The firm, which traces its roots back to 1873, was formed in 1998 and practices in all areas of intellectual property law including patent, trademark, copyright and unfair competition law and related litigation.  The firm maintains a second office in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.  Dan is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office and admitted to practice in Wisconsin and Illinois, as well as the United States District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Wisconsin, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.  He received his undergraduate degreee from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and his law degree from Marquette University. Dan's practice as an attorney and registered patent lawyer spans thirty continuous years.  Dan has spent several years as in-house patent counsel for a Fortune 500 health care company.  Dan's practice -- both corporate and private - has encompassed all the diverse and challenging aspects of patent law, including the creation and organization of patent strategies for his clients; the prosecution and procurement of patents for his clients in patent offices in the United States and throughout the world; the drafting of patent and other intellectual property right agreements; and the enforcement of patent rights for his clients in patent litigation, both in the United States and Europe.  Dan has been asked to offer expert testimony in these matters in litigation and arbitration proceedings.    Since the late 1980's, Dan's practice has grown to be very active in the representation of small, medium, and large companies engaged in the development of new health care technologies in diverse medical disciplines, including orthopedics, intravascular and cardiac care, treatment of gastro-intestinal dysfunctions, the processing and treatment of blood and blood components, neuromodulation and stimulation, and the treatment of breathing disorders.  Dan's activities in these areas also include conducting patent due diligence investigations for venture capital groups, as well as the representation of venture-capital funded medical products companies in patent and intellectual property matters across the country.  Dan's clients include several companies in the medical field that have grown from "start-up" status into successful, publicly traded corporations, selling patented products that have made a difference in the quality of people's lives.  Dan has written and prosecuted several hundred United States Patents, and those that have been asserted in court have withstood the test of litigation.  Dan has been listed in the "Best Lawyers of America" continuously since 1991.Dan Ryan is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin, Illinois State Bar Association, American Bar Association, and the Waukesha County Bar Association.
