Dennis P. Coffey is a partner at the law firm of Mawicke & Goisman, S.C., in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Dennis leads the firm's criminal defense practice, in which he represents both individuals and business entities during governmental investigations, in grand jury proceedings and in state and federal court cases throughout Wisconsin. Additionally, in a career spanning nearly 40 years, Dennis has represented clients facing all types of criminal charges, including white collar crimes (fraud, embezzlement, money laundering, etc.), violent crimes (battery, vehicular manslaughter, homicide, etc.), property crimes (theft, burglary, armed robbery, etc.), drug crimes (possession, sales, manufacturing, etc.) and drunk driving offenses (OWI/DUI).
A 1972 graduate of University of Wisconsin Law School, Dennis has consistently been recognized and honored by his peers in the legal community as one of Wisconsin's top criminal defense attorneys. These honors include the AV Preeminent* peer review rating he has held through Martindale-Hubbell since 1981, and his inclusions in The Best Lawyers in America and Wisconsin Super Lawyers listings for every year since either publication's inception. Dennis is also an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Association for Justice, the American Board of Criminal Lawyers and the State Bar of Wisconsin.
*AV Preeminent and BV Distinguished are certification marks of Reed Elsevier Properties Inc., used in accordance with the Martindale-Hubbell certification procedures, standards and policies. Martindale-Hubbell is the facilitator of a peer review rating process. Ratings reflect the anonymous opinions of members of the bar and the judiciary. Martindale-Hubbell peer review ratings fall into two categories: legal ability and general ethical standards.
