Attorney Hynes is also President/Co-Chair of the Wisconsin Employment Lawyers Association, serves on the Board of Directors for the Wisconsin State Bar - Labor and Employment Section, and is a long-standing member of the National Employment Lawyers Association. A Wisconsin native, Jeff is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and obtained his Juris Doctorate of Law degree from the UW Law School.

Jeffrey S. Hynes & Associates, S.C. is a full-service, employment law firm providing strategic legal counsel to employees, managers, and executives who are facing unfair treatment at work, have been terminated from their jobs, or are in need of assistance with job transition counseling or separation packages/negotiations. This includes legal advice, representation and/or negotiation in the following areas:

  • Severance packages, separation agreements, employment references and related job transition counseling/negotiations;
  • Review/negotiation of non-compete, non-solicitation, confidentiality retention and other employment agreements;
  • Advice regarding issues or disputes relating to disabilities/serious medical conditions, medical disability leaves (or time off) and reasonable accommodation;
  • Denials of raises, promotions or other employment opportunities;

  • Representation in mediation and settlement negotiations;
  • Representation in hearings before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, State Equal Rights Division, Department of Labor and related governmental agencies, as well as federal court;
  • Advice/negotiations regarding job transfers, demotions or firings;
  • Claims for unpaid wages, commissions or bonuses;
  • Claims for health insurance, COBRA and related employee benefit matters; and
  • Unemployment insurance appeals.

Our attorneys pride themselves on providing prompt, practical, and cost effective advice, with an emphasis on resolving workplace disputes through preventative legal counsel, and out-of-court settlement, where feasible. However, we will not hesitate to aggressively pursue litigation, if such option is in the best interest of our client.

Attorney Hynes brings a strong and diverse background to the table. He served as Staff Counsel to National Labor Relations Board member Patricia Diaz Dennis in Washington, D.C., and practiced labor and employment law with the reputable law firms of Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue (Cleveland, OH) and Morgan Lewis & Bockius (Washington, D.C.), prior to returning to Wisconsin in 1988. His philosophy is to put the client's interests first, and to utilize his substantial legal skills and experience to obtain common sense, "win-win” resolutions for clients who are facing discipline, discrimination, termination, or other adverse consequences to their career, livelihood, good name or reputation. However, where voluntary resolution is not feasible, Attorney Hynes (and the other lawyers in the Firm) pledge to vigorously and forcefully pursue litigation and/or appeals to their logical conclusion, as the situation may require.
