Melissa S. Hockersmith is a registered patent attorney whose practice focuses on all aspects of intellectual property law, including patent, trademark and copyright law, with an emphasis on intellectual property litigation. Her litigation experience has put her before federal and state courts, and administrative boards, including the Trademark Trial and Appeals Board. She encourages her clients to find cost-effective business solutions to legal disputes. Melissa earned her J.D. from the University of Wisconsin in 2004 and earned her B.S.E. in mechanical engineering from Arizona State University in 2001. Melissa is a member and past president of the Wisconsin Intellectual Property Law Association and a member of the Society of Women Engineers and the Association for Women Lawyers.

Pro bono/Community Service:
- While at Arizona State University, Melissa was actively involved in the Society of Women Engineers, chairing the Community Service Committee. Melissa was the Chairperson of a committee which planned Diversity Evening with Industry, a networking dinner and career fair for minority engineering students. Melissa was also involved with the Women and Science and Engineering program's summer camps which encourage junior high and high school girls to become involves in engineering and science.
