Super Lawyers editorial staff

The Super Lawyers editorial staff is responsible for assigning, editing and fact-checking nearly 50 Super Lawyers magazines around the country each year, as well as for writing for both print publications and online, and for managing Super Lawyers social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter / X, Instagam and LinkedIn.

Ron Cahill, J.D.

Director of Editorial and Research

As Director of Editorial & Research for Super Lawyers, Ron is responsible for driving the editorial direction and strategy for Super Lawyers, guiding the vision, design, and business requirements for our award-winning magazine, as well as online content at SuperLawyers.com. Additionally, Ron oversees the patented research process at Super Lawyers, which selects the top attorneys in the U.S. from all firm sizes who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. Prior to that, Ron served in strategic product marketing functions for Government and Corporate segment businesses at Thomson Reuters. Ron began his career at Thomson Reuters as an Attorney Editor, writing and editing for legal journals, handbooks and other legal resources in both print and online. Before joining Thomson Reuters, Ron worked as an attorney in the general practice of law. Ron received his BS from Miami University and JD from the University of Akron School of Law.

Erik Lundegaard

Editor-in-Chief
Erik Lundegaard has been a senior editor at Super Lawyers since 2005 and its editor in chief since 2013—during which time the magazine has won close to 100 journalism awards around the country. His freelance writing has been published by The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Slate, Salon, MSNBC.com, The Christian Science Monitor, The Seattle Times and The Believer, among others. He has a B.A. in English from the University of Minnesota, studied Mandarin Chinese in Taipei, Taiwan, and lives in Seattle, Washington, where he is a long-suffering Seattle Mariners fan. In his spare time, he is working on a book about the movies of James Cagney.

Ross Pfund

Managing Editor
Ross Pfund is the managing editor of Super Lawyers. He is the editor of the Minnesota, Colorado, Massachusetts, Louisiana and Southwest magazines. An award-winning editor and writer with more than 20 years of experience, he has a journalism degree from the University of Minnesota. His work has also appeared in the Star Tribune and the Norman County Index. As a child, he knew he was cut out for a career in journalism because he never once stuck his hand into his father’s printing press.

Beth Taylor

Senior Editor
Beth Taylor has been a senior editor for Super Lawyers since 2003, and has won dozens of awards for headline-writing and editing throughout her career. Previously, she was an editor and covered courts for The Orlando Sentinel. She also worked for go2net and KIRO-TV in Seattle, where she wrote for and edited their websites. In addition, Beth edited The Kitsap Business Journal and Media Inc. Beth has written travel books, including Around Seattle With Kids for Fodor’s and Seattle Day By Day for Frommer’s, and online travel guides for Google. Her travel writing has appeared in publications including the Chicago Tribune and the San Francisco Chronicle. Beth has a B.A. in communications/journalism and a master’s degree in political science.

Trevor Kupfer

Senior Editor
Trevor Kupfer is a senior editor on Super Lawyers’ staff. He is editor of the Illinois, South Carolina, Michigan, and Wisconsin magazines, in addition to being a writer and fact-checker of Super Lawyers' other projects. He has a degree in journalism from an accredited program (University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire) and has written for such newspapers and magazines as Eau Claire Leader-Telegram, Volume One, Wisconsin State Journal, The Capital Times, Global Food Forums, and various publications under the groups Tribune Media Services, Capital Newspapers, and Conley Media. He has served on crime and courts beats and, in college, he aided an investigation through the Wisconsin Innocence Project.

Andrew Brandt

Editor
Andrew Brandt is the associate editor on Super Lawyers' staff. He serves as the editor for the Missouri-Kansas, Mountain States, Oklahoma, and Texas Rising Stars magazines, and he additionally writes, fact-checks and proofreads for numerous other Super Lawyers issues (and for the website). He graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with degrees in English literature and environmental studies, and his byline has appeared in a variety of places, both online and in print.

Rebecca Mariscal

Associate Editor
Rebecca Mariscal is the editorial assistant on Super Lawyers’ staff. She serves as a writer for multiple Super Lawyers magazines and consumer articles, as well as being a fact-checker and proofreader. She manages the Super Lawyers Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and other social profiles. She studied communication and journalism at the University of St. Thomas in Minnesota where she was also a senior reporter for the university’s news site TommieMedia. She has previously worked for newspapers in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Her work has been featured in the Pioneer Press, Duluth News Tribune, Star-Observer and more.

Canaan Suitt, J.D.

Legal Writer/Editor
Canaan Suitt received his J.D. from William & Mary Law School. After serving as a senior editor for the law school’s comparative law blog, he was a staff member of the William & Mary Environmental Law and Policy Review (ELPR). As a legal intern at the National Center for State Courts, he assisted in international rule of law projects and policy review; as a research assistant, he studied political dynamics in the U.S. federal judiciary. His articles on law and philosophy have been published in the ELPR as well as the academic journal Dewey Studies. He loves using his background in research and writing to make legal information accessible. Canaan currently writes for SuperLawyers.com. In his free time, he enjoys reading, travel, and being a cat dad.
