BEST VIEW - River Street and the skyline of Savannah as seen from the Westin Hotel on Hutchinson Island.
FAVORITE BUILDING - The historic Armstrong House situated just north of Forsyth Park, which was built as a private residence in 1919. You have to see it to believe it.
UGLIEST BUILDING - Without a doubt, the federal complex. The exterior appears to be made from bath tiles.
BEST RESTAURANT - The Olde Pink House, which is known for its modern Southern fare. Ask to be seated in the original building.

FAVORITE HISTORICAL SITE - Fort Pulaski, which was designed and constructed with the assistance of a young Robert E. Lee.
FAVORITE CITY EVENT - Definitely St. Patrick’s Day, when all the fountains spray green water, and hundreds of thousands come to watch the third-largest parade in the nation.
FAVORITE HISTORICAL RESIDENT - Juliette Gordon Low, the founder of the Girl Scouts. Yes, I was a Girl Scout. Our troop in Macon made a trip to Savannah to visit her home.
FAVORITE BREAKFAST SPOT - J. Christopher’s. Try the grits!
FAVORITE PARK - Forsyth Park downtown, where one can find tranquility, play tennis or join a pickup game of soccer.
FAVORITE LUNCH SPOT - Skyler’s in the basement of a historic inn on Bay Street. The flounder and the shrimp are the best!
FAVORITE MOVIE THEATER - The Lucas. It is worth a visit just to see the beautiful restoration of the theater.
BEST PLACE FOR PEOPLE WATCHING - River Street. And you can also see enormous ocean container vessels up close and personal.
FAVORITE LOCAL SHOP - Savannah Bee Company. Who knew so many items are better made with honey?
MOST HEARTBREAKING CITY SPORTS MOMENT - When the Savannah Sand Gnats baseball team, a South Atlantic League team, left town in 2015.
PLACE TO TAKE OUT-OF-TOWN GUESTS - Definitely stroll Savannah’s beautiful squares, and top off the walk with a trolley tour to soak up Savannah’s history.
