Published in 2018 Missouri & Kansas Super Lawyers Magazine — December 2018

FAVORITE SPORTS BAR  -  Ugly Joe’s. With half a dozen projection TVs and more flat screens than you can count, you won’t miss a second of any game.

FAVORITE BUILDING(S)  -  I love driving through Old Leawood admiring the stone cottages built in the late 1930s and early 1940s.

BEST RESTAURANT  -  Rye at Mission Farms has it all: delicious comfort food, fantastic brunch and cocktails to write home about.

WEEKEND GETAWAY  -  Lake of the Ozarks for golf, camping or just lounging dockside with your friends.

FAVORITE CITY EVENT  -  The 4th of July Celebration at Leawood City Park has games and rides for kids, live entertainment, food trucks and, of course, fireworks.

FAVORITE THING ABOUT YOUR OFFICE (BESIDES THE PEOPLE)  -  The balcony (aka the Cigar Lounge) overlooking a private, serene pond.

BEST PLACE TO REFLECT  -  The Cigar Lounge.

FAVORITE BBQ  -  In Leawood—Joe’s Kansas City; in the Metro—Slap’s BBQ.

FAVORITE BREAKFAST SPOT  -  Neighborhood Cafe. Who can turn down free cinnamon rolls?

FAVORITE LUNCH SPOT  -  Marco Polo’s Italian Market. Try the Venetian sandwich and the linguini broccoli salad. Fuggedaboutit.

BEST PLACE TO PEDAL  -  Tomahawk Creek Trail.

FAVORITE MOVIE THEATER  -  The Glenwood Arts Theater at Ranch Mart Shopping Center will take you back to the old days.

FAVORITE LOCAL SHOP  -  Baldwin Denim makes all of its clothes right here in KC.

FAVORITE PIZZA JOINT  -  Leo’s Pizza (not exactly Leawood, but worth the drive north of the river).

BEST CITY SPORTS MOMENT  -  Kansas City Royals winning the 2015 World Series.

WORST CITY SPORTS MOMENT(S)  -  The Kansas City Chiefs, 2007-2009.

OUT-OF-TOWN GUESTS ARE IMPRESSED WITH  -  The friendliness of the people, the quality and variety of the food, and the abundance of visual and performing arts.

FAVORITE LESSER-KNOWN TOURIST ATTRACTION  -  The World War I Museum and Memorial.
