Discovery with Kamilah M. Holder

Kamilah Holder of #TeamIP keeps on burnin’

Published in 2018 New York Metro Super Lawyers Magazine — October 2018

My nickname is … Milah. Pronounced Mee-lah.

The quality I most like in a lawyer is … integrity. Because surprisingly, lawyers sometimes get a bad rap.

If I weren’t a lawyer, I’d be … an actor. Similar skill set, right?

The SCOTUS justice I’d most like to meet is … you can’t spell truth without Ruth.

My courtroom walkup music would be … “Run The World (Girls)” by Beyoncé. The runner-up is definitely “Finesse (Remix)” by Bruno Mars and Cardi B.

A different practice area that intrigues me … doesn’t exist. #TeamIP

I can do a pretty good impersonation of … Tina Turner. I’ve been told that my “Proud Mary” karaoke performance is fierce!

My fictional hero is … Storm from the X-Men. If I were Storm, the first thing I’d do is eliminate winters in New York. Thank me later.

My real-life hero is … my mother, the late Hazel P. Holder. She was extremely intelligent and, most admirably, selfless.

I wish I had invented … Amazon. I use the app at least three times a week. It’s good to be Jeff!

The last TV show I binge-watched was … American Crime. All lawyers appreciate a good crime show.

My favorite news source is … a tie between CNN and CNBC.

The most fascinating person I ever met is … my nephew. He’s 4. He reminds me to laugh every day. You would be surprised how much you can learn from a child.

The app I use the most is … Words with Friends. And I do not cheat, although I suspect some of my “friends” do.

I collect … coffee table books from the countries that I visit because I refuse to buy another keychain.

The most annoying thing about my job is … six-minute increments.

I can’t go a day without … cleaning. I’m a neat freak bordering on OCD.

My motto is … stay the course. Because as Confucius said, “It does not matter how slowly you go, so long as you do not stop.”
