After practicing 5 years at a large criminal defense firm in Minneapolis, in 2010 Ryan left to create his own criminal defense practice in downtown Minneapolis. His commitment to his clients has earned him a reputation as a zealous criminal defense attorney. Ryan has successfully represented individuals charged with misdemeanor to felony DWI, to sophisticated white-collar crime and homicide. His detailed investigation into the facts of his clients' cases, new and creative approaches to a defense, and a persuasive analysis of the law have resulted in highly successful outcomes. Results of Ryan's litigation range from jury trial not-guilty verdicts to judges' orders to dismiss. In 2010-2011, Ryan acquitted clients in cases ranging from DWI, to a national interest First Amendment victory, to his recent jury trial "not guilty verdict" in a felony disarming a peace officer case. Ryan is licensed in state and federal court, and practices with the Federal Defender Second Chair Program, as well as argues cases before the Minnesota Court of Appeals. He is the co-editor the Challenger, the official publication of the Minnesota Society of Criminal Defense Lawyers, and a Board Member of the Criminal Divison of the Minnesota State Bar Association. Ryan is grateful to his colleagues to have named him to the Rising Stars list in 2009, 2010 and 2011.
