Paul Callan has developed a national reputation as a litigator in a wide variety of both civil and criminal litigation. Since founding Callan,  Koster,  Brady & Brennan, LLP,  Mr. Callan has handled a wide variety of litigation including criminal defense, medical malpractice, products liability, employment disputes, commercial disputes, construction accident and other personal injury claims.  Mr. Callan began practicing law as a prosecutor in the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office where he held the position of Deputy Chief of the Homicide Bureau.  His duties included trial work, administrative tasks and the supervision of all murder investigations and trials in Brooklyn, one of the largest jurisdictions in the United States.  He was one of the prosecutors on the case of People v. David Berkowitz, the "Son of Sam" case. More recently, Mr. Callan served as trial counsel to the Estate of Nicole Brown Simpson in the O.J. Simpson Civil Case. He has also provided legal representation in high profile litigation to Leonardo DiCaprio , Quentin Tarantino, and Ivana Trump.

Representative Clients: His clients have included many of America’s largest insurance companies and corporations.  His clients include lawyers, as well as directors and officers of major American corporations. Some of New York's most famous physicians and surgeons have sought Mr. Callan's expertise when sued for medical malpractice. He represented the team doctor for one of the country's most famous professional sports teams when he was charged with operating on the patient’s wrong leg. His successful defense in a criminal case of a physician falsely accused of abusing a patient was the subject of an investigative report published on the editorial page of the Wall Street Journal. Author Dorothy Rabinowitz was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in part for her reporting on the case in her piece entitled "A Doctor's Story." He has litigated malpractice cases for clients involving neurosurgery, cardiology, orthopedics, radiology, anesthesiology, ophthalmology, psychiatry and other medical specialties.Not surprisingly, a number of celebrities have turned to Mr. Callan for assistance when lawsuits have brought them into the courtroom. He successfully represented the Estate of Nicole Brown Simpson in the civil suit against O.J. Simpson in Santa Monica. At the conclusion of that case, the civil jury unlike the criminal jury, found Simpson liable for the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman awarding a verdict in excess of $35,000,000.  Other well-known clients have included Leonardo DiCaprio, Quentin Tarantino, Ivana Trump, Michelle Rodriguez and Vadim Pearlman.He has litigated a diverse array of fascinating cases including: the leading case in New York regarding its’  Rape Shield Law; a case involving the restoration and market value of the artist Mark Rothko's most famous painting; a case involving the first attempted commercial sale of  lunar material in the United States (the "Moon Rocks Case").  He is a skilled criminal defense lawyer handling cases of complexity in both state and federal matters.
Educational Background: Received Juris Doctor degree from Boston College Law School in 1975 after obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree, with honors, from Seton Hall University in 1972.  While at Seton Hall, Mr. Callan represented the United States in international debate competition as one of two members of the United States Debate Team.  In that capacity he debated at the Oxford Union in the United Kingdom.
