My nickname is … Hawk.

If you were in my office, you’d … enjoy the view of downtown Augusta and the Savannah River.

My colleagues would be surprised to know that … I’m a huge San Antonio Spurs fan.

The quality I most like in a lawyer is … empathy.

My pretrial routine is … to toss and turn all night.

When I started, I wish I knew … how rewarding it would be in the end.

My career high point (so far) has been … settling the largest workers’ comp case in state history. It was over $7 million total.

If I weren’t a lawyer, I’d be … third baseman for the Atlanta Braves.

When I win a case, I celebrate … with a round of golf.

I almost quit the law because … this career has walls. Just keep climbing.

The SCOTUS justice I’d most like to meet is … John Roberts. I’d love to hear what it’s like behind the scenes, and how he leads a court with so many differing opinions.

My courtroom walk-up music would be … “Enter Sandman” by Metallica. Yes, just like Mariano. I’m no Yankees fan but how cool was that for a walkup song?

A different practice area that intrigues me is … criminal law.

I can’t believe more people haven’t read … The Untethered Soul: The Journey Beyond Yourself by Michael Alan Singer.

I can do a pretty good impersonation of … Christopher Walken.

On weekends I … golf or boat. Hopefully both.

My favorite meal is … steak. I’m an excellent outdoor chef.

I get angry when … the Dawgs lose a football game.

On my best day I … go to church with my family, take them out to lunch, and then play golf with my sons.

If I had a time machine, I would … travel back to the ’80s.

My motto is … “Dig deep.” I tell my Little League players this on Monday night games when they are exhausted from school, and I tell myself the same when I’m nearing the end of a brief, and just want it done, but know it’s not perfect.

My earliest memory is … moving from San Antonio.

My favorite song lyric is … “I can’t believe that we would/ Lie in our graves/ Wondering if we had/ Spent our living days well” — Dave Matthews Band, “Lie In Our Graves”

The movie line I quote most often is … “Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies.” — Andy Dufresne in The Shawshank Redemption.

If I had a morning show, my co-host would be … Jim Nantz. His calming voice and demeanor is something I admire. He’s always been the GOAT broadcaster in my opinion.

The last TV show I binge-watched was … Suits, duh.

Nothing cheers me up like … walking into my church.

My least-favorite word is … slippery slope.

My favorite news source is … 1440 News.

If I won the lottery I’d … practice law for free.

The one piece of advice I offer to new lawyers is … “Always protect your reputation. It takes a lifetime to build, but only a second to lose.”
