Best place to take a client – Rathbun’s Steak provides great food, service and ambiance.
Favorite watering hole – Marcel, for the midcentury cocktails.
Favorite local beer – SweetWater. It is the Southeast’s biggest brewery.
Favorite building – Georgia State Capitol.
Ugliest building – It used to be the Bobby Burgess Building, but that was recently renovated. Now you can pick most of the federal buildings.
Best restaurant – Revival in Decatur—creative and tasty Southern food, superb service and a family-dining-style menu.
Favorite historical site – Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site, and the Carter Center.
Favorite quote – “The City of Atlanta has always had a good spirit.” —Ivan Allen Jr.
Favorite city event – Atlanta Musicfest.
Favorite courthouse perk – At the district court, free parking, and cellphone allowed with identification card.
Favorite breakfast spot – West Egg Café in West Midtown.
Favorite lunch spot – Pasta Da Pulcinella.
Best place to reflect – The Carter Center.
Best view – Our offices on the 24th floor—you can see all of Atlanta, and the mountains.
Best place for people watching – Piedmont Park.
Favorite local shop – A Capella Books, located in the historic Inman Park neighborhood. It is the go-to place for out-of-print titles, classic literature and political books.
Favorite coffee shop – Land of a Thousand Hills. It is owned by local roasters who source their beans from Rwandan farmers to help alleviate poverty there.
Favorite pizza joint – Antico—family-style dining and amazing pizza. You can bring your own wine.
Favorite city sports moment – 1995, when the Atlanta Braves won the World Series against the Cleveland Indians in six games.
Most heartbreaking city sports moment – 2017 Super Bowl. Need I say more?
Weirdest city law – “You may not carry an ice cream cone in your back pocket if it is Sunday.” I guess the rest of the days are fine.
Favorite lesser-known tourist attraction – Tiny Doors ATL. Can you find them all?
Favorite movie theater – I have a toddler; I am sure movie theaters have changed since I last went.
