Where to go after a win:
Cigar! Cigar!
Favorite thing about your office besides the people:
It has a fully furnished balcony with a river view and firepit, and inside we have beer on tap …
Favorite historical fact about Evansville:
During World War II, an Evansville business named Republic Aviation produced over 6,000 P-47 Thunderbolt fighter planes, which was more than any other plant and represented over one-third of the total produced during the war. Tarheel Hal was one of the P-47s made in Evansville during World War II and is now located back in Evansville.
Honorable mention: James Bethel Gresham, one of the first U.S. casualties of World War I is buried at Locust Hill Cemetery in Evansville.
Saddest historical fact about Evansville:
It was a sundown town. (A town that required nonwhite people to leave by sunset, either by official ordinance or through violence and intimidation.)
Best place for people watching:
The downtown riverfront.
Favorite coffeeshop:
River City Coffee. My go to order is a doppio, a double espresso.
Favorite pizza joint:
The Slice.
Honorable mention: Pangea or 2nd Language downtown.
Place to take out-of-town guests:
For food: House of Como; for sightseeing: the USS-LST 325 or Evansville Wartime Museum.
Favorite lesser-known tourist attraction:
If you believe in or like haunted places, Willard Library, which was visited by Lorraine Warren from The Conjuring movies in the 1970s.
Best place to take a client:
It always depends on the client, but Ellis Park racetrack , which is technically in Kentucky but adopted by Evansville, has a little bit of everything. It is one of the only places you can smoke, drink and gamble all at the same time.
